1. Theme Installation

  1. Unzip the zip file that you downloaded from themeforest and locate the 'advanix' and 'advanix-[color]' folders inside the 'theme' folder. This is the folder and contents you will need to upload to your webserver.
  2. FTP Upload the 'advanix' and 'advanix-[color]' folders to your 'wp-content/themes/' directory on your web server, then you can activate the theme.
  3. After you activate a theme, you can change the theme settings. Login to wordpress admin panel and click the ' Appearance' tab then click ' Theme Options' sub tab .

    Recommended Plugins ( please see instruction #8.a below):
  4. Copy and activate all plugins inside the 'plugins' folder to the wordpress plugins directory.

2. Page Templates and Sidebar

a) Page Templates

  1. Default Template (The default page template with right sidebar position)
  2. No Sidebar (Page template with one column and no sidebar position)
  3. Portfolio (Portfolio alternate pages with right sidebar position)
  4. News (Page template for display news)
  5. Blog (Page template for display blog posts)

 

b) Sidebar Position

  1. Post Sidebar - Located at the right side of archives, single and search.
  2. Page Sidebar - Located at the side (right/left) of page templates.
  3. Footer1 - Located in the the footer area.
  4. Footer2 - Located in the the footer area.
  5. Footer3 - Located in the the footer area.

3. Menu Settings

The menu setting use the new WordPress 3.0 menu manager, please read the documentation at
http://codex.wordpress.org/Appearance_Menus_SubPanel

Setup menu guide:

  1. click the 'Appearance' tab then 'Menus' Sub Tab
  2. Add new menu, enter the menu name then click 'Save'
  3. Assign the menu to the 'Main Menu' location
  4. Custom Link: enter your website url in the URL field and 'Home' text in the Label field click then 'Add to Menu'
  5. Pages: Select the pages that you want to add to menu then click 'Add to Menu'
  6. Check the Screen Options (upper right) to insure CSS and Description modules are set to display
  7. You can add custom css to each menu item, this theme first menu on the left use the 'home' css classes. (Not used by this theme)
  8. You can add a description to each main menu item.
  9. Don't forget to click the 'Save Menu' before you leave this page!

4. Posts and Categories

You also can follow this instruction below:

a) Adding a Category

Adding a categories for blog and portfolio is similar:

  1. Log in to your WordPress Administration Panel (Dashboard).
  2. Click the 'Post' tab or 'Portfolio' tab for portfolio categories.
  3. Click the 'Categories' Sub Tab or 'Portfolio Categories' for portfolio categories.
  4. You only need to enter the category name field, the other are optional.
  5. Click the 'Add New Category' button and you are done!
  6. You will see the category you just added in the right side area.

 

b) Writing a Post for Blog or News

Write your post as you normally would:

  1. Log in to your WordPress Administration Panel (Dashboard).
  2. Click the 'Post' tab.
  3. Click the 'Add New' Sub Tab
  4. Start filling in the blanks.
  5. As needed, select a category, add tags, and make other selections from the sections below the post. Each of these sections is explained at at http://codex.wordpress.org/Posts_Add_New_SubPanel.
  6. This theme doesn't require 'featured image' for blog post thumbnail, you can simply insert the image into the post.
  7. Custom fields (optional)
  8. When you are ready, click Publish.

 

c) Writing a Post for Home Page Slider

The post for home page slider use the new custom post type:

  1. Log in to your WordPress Administration Panel (Dashboard).
  2. Click the 'Slider' tab.
  3. Click the 'Add New' Sub Tab
  4. Enter the 'title' only that will displayed in the slider content area.
  5. 'Upload' and 'set featured image' for slider. This featured image will be used for slider image.
    The placeholder for this slider image is 940px × 370px.
  6. Custom fields (optional)
  7. When you are ready, click Publish.

 

d) Writing a Post for Portfolio

The post for portfolio items use the new custom post type:

  1. Log in to your WordPress Administration Panel (Dashboard).
  2. Click the 'Portfolio' tab.
  3. Click the 'Add New' Sub Tab
  4. Start filling in the blanks.
  5. As needed, select a category, add tags, and make other selections from the sections below the post. Each of these sections is explained at at http://codex.wordpress.org/Posts_Add_New_SubPanel.
  6. 'Upload' and 'set featured image' for portfolio. This featured image will be used for portfolio thumbnail.
    The placeholder for this portfolio image is 288px × 140px.
  7. Custom fields (optional)
  8. When you are ready, click Publish.

 

e) Featured Images

You can 'upload' and 'set featured image' for portfolio and slider. This featured image will be used as thumbail.

  1. When adding a new post, you will see in the right side area the 'Featured Image' box.
  2. Click the 'Set featured image' link.
  3. You will see the wordpress media uploader window show up.
  4. Select image to upload.
  5. After upload you will see the image information.
  6. Click the 'Use as fetured image' link in the bottom.
  7. Done, just close the window.
  8. If you want to use this image as post image, just click the 'Insert into Post' button.

 

f) Writing a Post for Testimonials

The post for testimonials items use the new custom post type:

  1. Log in to your WordPress Administration Panel (Dashboard).
  2. Click the 'Testimonial' tab.
  3. Click the 'Add New' Sub Tab
  4. Fill the title and post.
  5. Custom fields (optional)
  6. When you are ready, click Publish.

5. Pages Settings

Page are content such as 'About', 'Services, 'Contact', etc... for more information about WordPress Page, please see the documentation at http://codex.wordpress.org/Pages_Add_New_SubPanel

 

a) Creating a Pages

  1. Log in to your WordPress Administration Panel (Dashboard).
  2. Click the 'Pages' tab.
  3. Click the 'Add New' Sub Tab
  4. Start filling in the blanks.
  5. As needed, you can set the 'Page Attribute' in the right side box.
  6. Custom fields (optional)
  7. When you are ready, click Publish.

 

b) Creating a Homepage

Instruction to creating the Home page.

  1. Add new page as describe in point #5.a above
  2. You can name it 'Home' or 'Welcome' or any name that you want.
  3. Select the page template in the 'Page Attribute' section.
  4. Add the home page content in the content editor box or you can use our 'Custom Layout', please see at point #7.a, #7.b or #7.c below.
  5. When you are ready, click Publish.
  6. In the left side menu, click the 'Settings' tab.
  7. Click the 'Reading' sub tab.
  8. Then change the "Front page displays" to "A static page" and choose the "Welcome" page that you just created.
  9. Save the settings.

 

c) Setup different widget on each page

You can use the 'Default Template' for all pages on wordpress and you also can display different widget on each page.

Example:
About page --> Display the about page navigation
Services page --> Display the Recent Comments
Contact page --> Display the company address
and so on...

How to make this works? You can use the 'Widget Logic' plugin to make this works.

After 'Widget Logic' plugin activated, you will see the additional field with a name of 'Widget Logic' on each 'Widget'.

The value of the widget logic is the wordpress conditional tags that you can see at http://codex.wordpress.org/Conditional_Tags

6. Portfolio and Blog

a) Setting up the Portfolio page

  1. Log in to your WordPress Administration Panel (Dashboard).
  2. Click the 'Pages' tab.
  3. Click the 'Add New ' Sub Tab
  4. Enter 'Portfolio' to the title fields
  5. Select the 'Portfolio' page template in the 'Page Attribute' box.
  6. Custom fields (required)
  7. Then Publish!

 

b) Setting up the Blog page

  1. Log in to your WordPress Administration Panel (Dashboard).
  2. Click the 'Pages' tab.
  3. Click the 'Add New ' Sub Tab
  4. Enter 'Blog' to the title fields
  5. Select the 'Blog' page template in the 'Page Attribute' box.
  6. Custom fields (requiredl)
  7. Then Publish!

 

c) Setting up the News page

  1. Log in to your WordPress Administration Panel (Dashboard).
  2. Click the 'Pages' tab.
  3. Click the 'Add New ' Sub Tab
  4. Enter 'News' to the title fields
  5. Select the 'News' page template in the 'Page Attribute' box.
  6. Custom fields (requiredl)
  7. Then Publish!

7. Custom Layout

You can use custom layout on this theme, you only need to copy and paste the code below into a post content.

8. Plugins, Widget and Shortcode

a) Recommended Plugins

Install some plugins (listed below). Search for the plugin name from within wordpress admin, then add and activate it. Some plugins can conflict with the theme, but the ones listed below have been tested to work, and also extra styling for the plugins has been added. Only add those that are needed. Adding too many will slow down your website.


Widget Logic

Description: This plugin gives every widget an extra control field called "Widget logic" that lets you control the pages that the widget will appear on.

Yoast Breadcrumbs
Download: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/breadcrumbs/
Description: Install this plugin for the breadcrumbs functionality to work.

Easy Contact
Download: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/easy-contact/
Description: Simple contact form for contact page.

WP PageNavi
Download: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-pagenavi/
Description: For page navigation.

AdRotate
Download: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/adrotate/
Description: Display ads in the sidebar.

Flikr Photo
Download: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-flickr-plugin/
Description: Display flikr images in the sidebar.

b) Custom Widget

  1. TS - Recent Post
    This widget is for display recent post, blog, news in the right sidebar position, you can activate this widget on any pages.
  2. TS - Recent Comments
    This widget is an alternate of the default Recent Comments widget, it show the comments.
  3. TS - Post Cycle
    This widget is to rotate several recent post from a blog, portfolio or testimonials.

 

c) Shortcode

  1. [testimonials numposts="5"]
    This shortcode is to show the testimonials in any pages/posts.
    numposts: if set to 5 then it will show the latest 5 testimonials.

9. Other Settings

a) Theme Options

Some settings that you can change easily through theme options:

  1. Text-based logo
    You can choose text-based logo or images logo. If you choose text-based logo then the theme will show the default 'Sitename' and 'Tagline', you also can change the Sitename and Tagline in the theme option.
  2. Image Logo
    You can upload your logo via ftp then put the url into the 'Logo Image URL' field.
  3. Footer Settings
    You can add footer information and google analytics code here.

 

b) Color Options

Color options is made as child themes, you can activate the other color that you like:

  1. Click the 'Appearance' tab.
  2. Click the 'Themes' sub tab.
  3. Activate the color that you want.
  4. Done!

10. Import Our Demo SQL Data

If you have problem setting up this theme or you want to learn how we setup our demo, in the 'DOCUMENTATION/' folder we include the SQL Dump of this theme data, the file name is *.sql. You need to import the data via phpmyadmin.

NOTE:

  1. You must import this data only in the first time wordpress installation, don't import this data in the live site.
  2. All data in your current wordpress database will be deleted.
  3. You can install wordpress in different domain or folder then import this data.

 

To import sql dump in your site, please follow this guide:

  1. Install a new/fresh wordpress theme
  2. Copy this theme to the wordpress 'theme' folder.
  3. Activate this theme (you must activate the theme before import the data)
  4. Don't install any plugin before import the data, otherwise it will error.
  5. You must have access to phpmyadmin or other mysql manager
  6. Open the phpmyadmin
  7. Click the 'Import' tab
  8. Click 'Browse' and find the .sql file
  9. Then click 'Go' button
  10. Done!
